In the mud pump, the mud pump valve is the control element, and its main function is to isolate the equipment and pipeline system, regulate the flow, prevent backflow, adjust and discharge pressure.

The valve can be used to control the flow of air, water, steam, various corrosive media, mud, oil, liquid metal and radioactive media. It is very important to choose the right type of mud pump valve in the mud pump system, so it is also very important to know the type and characteristics of the valve.

1. Valve can be divided into two categories:

1) Automatic valve

The valve that can operate by itself depends on the ability of medium (liquid, gas). Such as: check valve, safety valve, control valve, regulating valve, pressure reducing valve.

2) Drive valve

The valve is operated manually, electrically, hydraulically and pneumatically. Such as: gate valve, globe valve, throttle valve, butterfly valve, ball valve, plug valve.
